Traditional dental X-rays show a flat, two-dimensional picture. Our Carestream CS 8200 produces a precise, three-dimensional cone beam CT (CBCT) image of your teeth, bone, nerves, and surrounding structures in a single low-dose scan.
This matters most when precision is everything: planning dental implants to the nearest millimetre, mapping root anatomy before complex endodontic treatment, assessing jaw structure for orthodontic cases, or identifying issues that a standard X-ray simply cannot capture. For our patients, it means fewer referrals, faster decisions, and treatment plans built on complete information.
Best suited to: Implant planning, complex endodontics, orthodontic assessment, surgical planning.
We no longer take traditional impressions at Berkhamsted Dental. Our iTero Lumina scanner captures a precise digital model of your teeth in minutes, with no trays, no setting material, and no discomfort.
The scan feeds directly into Invisalign’s ClinCheck software, allowing us to simulate your tooth movements and show you a projected outcome before treatment begins. For restorations, it communicates with our laboratory partners digitally, reducing turnaround times and improving the fit of crowns, veneers, and retainers. As a Diamond Invisalign Provider, the iTero Lumina sits at the centre of our orthodontic workflow.
Used for: Invisalign treatment planning, crown and veneer impressions, retainer fabrication, smile design.
Every X-ray taken at Berkhamsted Dental is digital, captured instantly and displayed chair-side for your clinician and for you. Digital radiography produces significantly lower radiation doses than conventional film, with sharper images that can be enhanced, magnified, and shared with specialist colleagues or other practices instantly.
Our OPG (panoramic) system captures a full-arch view of all teeth, roots, and jaw structure in a single image, used routinely for implant assessment, wisdom tooth evaluation, and orthodontic planning.
The dental operating microscope gives our clinicians a level of magnification and illumination that is simply not possible with loupes alone. In endodontic (root canal) treatment, where success depends on locating and treating canals that may be just fractions of a millimetre wide, the microscope is transformative.
It is also used for complex restorative and surgical procedures where fine detail is the difference between a good result and an exceptional one. Where other practices refer microscope cases, we treat them in-house.
Clinical technology is only part of the picture. Behind the scenes, Berkhamsted Dental runs on a suite of purpose-built digital systems, developed in partnership with our technology and AI partners, that make the practice run with the same precision we apply to clinical care.
From intelligent appointment scheduling and automated patient communications to digital treatment planning tools that support our clinical team’s decision-making, these systems remove friction at every step of the patient journey. Recall, follow-up, referral coordination, and clinical records are all managed digitally, reducing administrative load on our team and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
For patients, this means faster responses, clearer communication, and a practice that is as professionally run as it is clinically excellent.
Whether you’re booking your first appointment, have a question about our treatments, or simply want advice on your dental care — our friendly team is here to help.
