New patients are welcome

We are a private dental practice in the heart of Berkhamsted, and we are welcoming new patients.

  • Accepting new private patients
  • Specialists on-site, across multiple disciplines
berkhamsted

Whether you are new to the area, looking for a fresh start with your dental care, or simply ready for a practice that gives you more time and attention than you have been used to, we would be glad to have you. We see patients on a private basis. This means that the time we spend with you is never rushed, the treatments we recommend are based entirely on what is right for you, and the care you receive at every appointment reflects the standards we hold ourselves to.

Berkhamsted Dental is also a practice with considerable depth of exceptional skills on-site. Alongside our team of skilled general dentists, we have specialists in orthodontics, endodontics and oral surgery available within the practice. For patients with more complex needs, access to specialist-level care without having to go elsewhere is a significant advantage.

We are accepting new private patients now, with no NHS waiting lists or restricted treatment, specialists on-site across multiple disciplines, and appointments designed to never feel rushed.

About treatment

What's included in the first appointment?

Many patients come to Berkhamsted Dental specifically to explore a treatment they are considering, whether that is Invisalign®, dental implants, composite bonding, veneers, or something else. You do not need to be a registered patient to book a consultation, and you are under no obligation to proceed with treatment after your appointment.

Berkhamsted Dental Practice

Full medical and dental history

We take time to understand your general health, medications, and dental history. This informs every aspect of your care.

Comprehensive oral health assessment

A full examination of your teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues, including any existing fillings, crowns, and bridges.

Gum health check

We measure pocket depths and assess for signs of gum disease, recession, and bleeding. Gum health is the foundation of everything else.

Oral cancer screening

A systematic check of your tongue, cheeks, palate, and lips. Included as standard at every examination, without exception.

X-rays

Radiographs show what is happening between teeth, below the gum line, and within the bone. Taken only where clinically indicated.

Discussion of your concerns and goals

Just as important as the clinical examination. We want to know what you would like to improve and what has been worrying you.

Treatment plan and cost breakdown

Where treatment is recommended, we explain your options clearly and provide full fee information before anything is booked.

Why us?

Why choose Berkhamsted Dental for your treatment?

If you are anxious about dental visits, you are in the right place. A significant number of our patients come to us specifically because they have had difficult experiences elsewhere or because dental anxiety has kept them away from care for a long time. Our team is experienced in supporting nervous patients, and we approach every appointment with the patience and sensitivity that it requires.

We are accepting new private patients with no waiting list; our team of general dentists and on-site specialists is highly trained; our appointments are designed to be unhurried and thorough; nervous patient support is standard, and you will always receive a full treatment plan and cost breakdown before anything begins.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to book?

No. You can contact us directly to book a new patient appointment or a consultation. Simply call us on 01442 865 646 or book online.

I have not been to the dentist in a long time. Will you judge me?

Not at all. We see patients who have not been to a dentist in years, sometimes decades, and our approach is always the same: find out where you are now, explain what we find clearly and without alarm, and work with you at a pace you are comfortable with. The most important thing is that you are here. We will take it from there.

I am nervous about dental appointments. Can you help?

Yes. Supporting anxious patients is something our whole team is experienced in, and it is something we take seriously. Please tell us when you book that you are nervous, so that we can make sure your appointment is set up in a way that feels manageable.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Of course. You are always welcome to bring a friend or family member, and they are welcome to sit in with you during your appointment if that is what you would prefer.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

It is helpful to bring a list of any medications you are currently taking, including the dosages. If you have had dental X-rays taken recently at another practice, we may be able to request these from your previous dentist, which can avoid the need to retake them.
